It is not mandatory for an ultralight powered aircraft to be equipped with an on-board radio system, except within certain air zones. However, we strongly recommend the use of such a system in order to minimize risks, both in flight and on the tarmac of an aerodrome. This is why we offer you the opportunity to come and take your “Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (Aeronautical Proficiency)” exam issued by Industry Canada.
Once the regulations and procedures have been properly understood, a simple exam is all it takes to be authorized to operate a radio in flight and on the ground, thereby increasing your safety in the air and that of others.
“The operator of a radiotelephone installation on board an aircraft and in a land station of the fixed or mobile aeronautical service using frequencies of the aeronautical mobile service must hold a restricted radio operator certificate (aeronautical competence)”
